Things have simmered down when it comes to Scream news of late. The seventh instalment has been in the can for four months, and is currently deep in the post-production process.
However, an interesting rumour has cropped up over the past few weeks that just won’t go away. As we know, Scream 7 will feature several cameos from past franchise alumni, including Matthew Lillard, Scott Foley, and David Arquette.
But the rumour persists that the seventh Scream instalment will feature a “surprise” cameo that will “blow genre fans’ minds.”
Now, the rumour of this “surprise” cameo has expanded further, and several sources are reporting that Jamie Lee Curtis will be appearing in Scream 7.
Yes, that’s right, rumour has it the ultimate Scream Queen will be the ultimate treat for genre fans.
Of course, these reports are unconfirmed, and will likely remain so until the release of Scream 7, but the rumour of Curtis’ involvement continues to gain steam by the day.
Curtis finding her way to the Scream franchise is entirely possible, as she has worked with Scream 7 director Kevin Williamson in the past. Curtis approached Williamson to pen Halloween H20 in 1998, something the filmmaker was unable to entirely commit to due to scheduling conflicts. However, Williamson did contribute a story treatment that would form the basis of the hit sequel.
Furthermore, Curtis has worked with Scream franchise star Neve Campbell in the past. The two appeared in the 2000 comedy Drowning Mona, and have maintained a friendship since. In 2021 the actresses interviewed each other for Variety, in a piece entitled “Scream Queens in Conversation.”
So, has Jamie’s connections with the Scream alums resulted in the ultimate horror movie cameo?
