We’re saddened to hear that legendary composer Angelo Badalamenti has passed away. He was 85.
Badalamenti was perhaps best known for his collaborations with David Lynch, including composing the score and the iconic main title theme for Twin Peaks, for which he won a Grammy Award in 1991. He also scored Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, Blue Velvet, Lost Highway, Wild at Heart, and Mulholland Drive. The composer would later re-team with Lynch for 2017’s Twin Peaks: The Return.
Beyond his work with Lynch, Badalemnti created the scores for horror films like 2006’s The Wicker Man, Eli Roth’s Cabin Fever, and beloved sequel A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, as well as working with the likes of David Bowie, Shirley Bassey, and the Pet Shop Boys.
Rolling Stone reports that Badalamenti passed away peacefully due to natural causes, surrounded by his family. He will be missed.
