Earlier this year we brought you a first look at retro-styled, 16-bit RPG Camp Sunshine, which brings an early-90s, Zelda-esque feel to its summer camp slasher story. The game is now finished, and has an imminent release date set!
Camp Sunshine follows a boy called Jez, whose trip to summer camp takes a turn for the worst when crazed killer Isaac Illerman comes back from the dead, dons a mascot costume and starts hacking his way through the campers. It is up to the player-controlled Jez to explore the camp’s history and stop the maniac’s killing spree.
Developed by the three-man team at Fossil Games, Camp Sunshine materialised thanks to a successful crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo which raised nearly $1,200 back in April.
Check out the trailer (and its amazing soundtrack) below. If you’re someone who still misses your Super Nintendo, you’ll no doubt get a little excited. Camp Sunshine is slated for release on October 28th and will be available on PC and Mac via Steam, with plans for iOS and Android versions later in the year.
