Back on June 17, we announced that Season 8 of American Horror Story, the powerhouse anthology series on FX, would be a crossover, combining the stories of Murder House (Season 1) and Coven (Season 3). Showrunner Ryan Murphy broke the news on Twitter, saying: “The Coven/Murder House AHS crossover season won’t be happening next year…because it’s happening THIS YEAR. AHS #8 WITCHES RULE THIS SEPTEMBER”
So much for my personal hopes that Season 8 would be about aliens and include the return of Kit Walker. I was almost certain it would be when I realised that the number 8 looks like a crop circle in AHS’s signature script. Alas, we’ll have to wait for the series to go full-on sci-fi.
We now know exactly when American Horror Story Season 8 will premiere (even if we don’t know the upcoming chapter’s exact title). The news once again came via Twitter.
Now if only we could look forward to the return of Jessica Lange on September 12th. A staple in the series’ formative years, Lange has been absent since the conclusion of Season 5 (Hotel). Though there’s been nothing to give us hope, the fact that Lange was integral in both Murder House and Coven has many fans (including this one) hoping, dreaming the impossible dream.
We’ll keep you posted on AHS Season 8 as news emerges. Stay tuned!
