Whether or not the world ever needed a Suspiria remake can still be debated, but Luca Guadagnino’s upcoming film has become impossible to ignore. And actually, it’s really begun to feel like it’s going to be something a bit special. While news of a release has up to now been elusive, we learned this week that the new take on Dario Argento’s operatic horror masterpiece will hit screens on November 2nd.
The news was accompanied by two new images from the film, showing Dakota Johnson as Susie Bannion, a role played (with a slight spelling difference) by Jessica Harper in the 1977 original.
Johnson stars alongside Tilda Swinton, Chloë Grace Moretz, Mia Goth, Sylvie Testud and Angela Winkler.
In Suspiria…
“A young American ballet dancer travels to a prestigious dance academy in Europe, only to discover it is something far more sinister and supernatural. She becomes increasingly terrified after a series of gruesome murders ensue and she slowly unravels the dark history of the academy.”
