With over fifty novels in the series, it’s little surprise that Netflix have big plans for their film adaptions of R.L. Stine’s Fear Street.
Following the massive success of the three-part Fear Street summer movie event of 2021, things went quiet until early last year. Now, series fans are eagerly awaiting the 2025 arrival of Fear Street: Prom Queen.
Whilst there’s still no official release date, Stine recently dropped a nugget of info that will undoubtedly excite fans further, as they await Prom Queen. Whilst promoting Hulu’s Goosebumps: The Vanishing, Stine revealed that three more Fear Street movies are in the works:
“The writers are working on adapting three more books,” Stine revealed. “So, I’ve got my fingers crossed.”
As Stine didn’t drop any hints as to what books will be next adapted, fans have speculated endlessly what Fear Street 5-7 will bring to the screen. We’ll have to wait and see!
Regarding the upcoming Prom Queen instalment, a reliable source tells us that Netflix recently tested the film. Worryingly, the results were reported as “mixed,” with praise going to the ensemble cast and slasher elements, but considerable criticism aimed at the writing.
It’s possible Netflix hasn’t yet issued a release date for Prom Queen, as a round of reshoots may be required.
