In a film that sounds like it could be this year’s Green Room, The Ranger follows a group of punk rockers as they escape the authorities and seek a hiding place in a forest. However, what they find is less than safe, because a determined ranger sets out to secure the solace of his forest.
The Ranger will be directed by Jenn Wexler, who is making her feature film directing debut. Wexler has previously worked as a producer on Micky Keating’s stylish horror Darling, the ‘N’ segment from ABCs of Death 2 and the upcoming Psycopaths, also written and directed by Micky Keating and set to premiere at this week’s Tribeca Film Festival.
It will be interesting to see if Wexler takes a leaf out of Keating’s film-making book and chooses to craft a horror film that relies on subtle frights and atmospheric dread or whether she conjures up something entirely different, choosing to put her own unique stamp on the genre.
The Ranger is currently in production and has a release date slated for 2018.
