The last we heard about the World War Z 2 was that David Fincher was trying to think of a reason for the sequel to exist. Although this was somewhat disappointing because we were eager to see more, it was positive to learn that he was taking the follow-up seriously and not making it for the big bucks.
Now we can report that production for World War Z 2 will be starting in June 2019 with David Fincher directing and Brad Pitt returning to reprise his role as former U.N. Investigator Gerry Lane. The news comes from an interview with producer Dede Gardner for Variety, where she confirmed the sequel would be moving forward next summer.
David Fincher has been working on the second season of Mindhunter – which we cannot wait for – but it looks like World War Z 2 is going to be his next project. Hooray! I thought World War Z was a great take on the zombie genre, despite deviating from the original novel. It’s been a while since we had something super impressive from those walking dead, so perhaps World War Z’s return will breathe some fresh life into zombies.
