It’s been a long time coming, but online reports are confirming that the new “origin-ish” Friday the 13th is currently in pre-production and casting for the film is underway. Hooray! Despite no confirmed release date for Friday the 13th, Bloody Disgusting state that the film plans to be released on the apt date of Friday the 13th October 2017. So, October 2017 will see a potentially great trio of new horror films with this, Saw Legacy and Insidious: Chapter 4. What a triple bill that would be!
In an interview last year, the film’s producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form said:
“It will be eight years since we made the last one. I’m here to say that we found the location. We have found the lake, we have found the camp. We found an amazing script by Aaron Guzikowski. Breck Eisner is directing the movie. That movie is shooting in early Spring.”
It looks like the film is finally on track and we’re extremely excited to see a brand new Jason Voorhees wreaking havoc at Camp Crystal Lake once again. With an excellent script writer in Aaron Guzikowski (Prisoners) and The Crazies-director Breck Eisner in the director’s chair, this could be the long-awaited Friday the 13th we’ve been crossing our fingers for. And it’s not going to be found-footage, so that’s a bonus.
