PEDRO PASCAL EXITS ZACH CREGGER’S “WEAPONS,” JOSH BROLIN IN TALKS

Posted on: March 9th, 2024

Unbelievably, it’s almost been a year since we last reported on Weapons, the anticipated follow-up movie from Barbarian director Zach Cregger.

Last we heard, the project had a completed script and would star The Last of Us lead Pedro Pascal. However, now we have news that’ll no doubt be disheartening for fans of the actor.

Unfortunately, Pascal has exited Weapons, citing scheduling conflicts as the primary reason. Whilst disappointing, this news is hardly surprising, as Pascal is expected to soon participate in The Last of Us season 2 and a reboot of Fantastic Four. Each of these projects, and Weapons, have fallen victim to the lengthy delays caused by the 2023 Hollywood strike action. It is little wonder Pascal has been forced to reshuffle his projects, given the delays and his rapidly intensifying profile.

However, fear not! The exit of their most recognizable star does not mean Cregger’s project is doomed. Reliable sources are reporting that Avengers and Outer Range star Josh Brolin is being eyed to replace Pascal.

Weapons is the rather highly-anticipated follow-up project to Cregger’s 2022 critical darling Barbarian. Although plot details are hard to come by, the project has been described as “a multi and inter-related story horror epic that tonally is in the vein of Magnolia, the 1999 actor-crammed showcase from filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson.”

We’ll keep an eye on Weapons and report any further changes or major updates.
