In yet more positive news for troubled slasher sequel Scream 7, franchise alum Patrick Dempsey has spoken on whether he’ll return as Mark Kincaid… And it sounds promising.
Speaking in a recent interview, Dempsey attempted to remain coy, but seemed happy to speak about the project when pressed by the anchors. Upon being reminded that Dempsey and Neve Campbell are married in Scream lore, the actor relented, admitting he has been approached:
“I’m waiting on the script, but there has been a conversation about it,” Dempsey commented. “But I haven’t seen anything.”
Dempsey then went on to elaborate on his working relationship with Neve Campbell, disclosing that she’d played his sister on Grey’s Anatomy following Scream 3.
Dempsey seems a prime candidate for Spyglass Media Group to secure, as the actor already has a well-oiled working relationship with the studio. In 2023, Dempsey took on the starring role for Spyglass in their slasher hit Thanksgiving, to rave reviews.
The possibility of Dempsey returning is just one of several positive pieces of information we’ve received regarding Scream 7 of late.
Most recently, Courteney Cox seemed to confirm that she’d return as Gale Weathers. Alongside this, heavy rumours suggest that Ghostbusters star Mackenna Grace is being eyed for the role of Sidney Prescott’s daughter Tatum.
With the project expected to begin shooting this coming January, things finally seem to be looking up for Scream 7.
