It’s safe to say Paramount Pictures is revelling in their status as a horror friendly studio, if their latest home media announcement is anything to go by.
Paramount Scares Vol. One will bring together horror titles under the Paramount banner old and new. The five selected films are housed in a stunning coffin-shaped box and provided with individual slip-covers featuring newly commissioned matching artwork.
The titles will be released with both blu-ray and 4K UHD discs and will also contain a nifty sheet of custom-made stickers and an enamel pin featuring the brand-new Paramount Scares logo.
Now, you may be asking “but what ARE the movies?!” And we’re getting there, but we must preface that only 4 of the 5 films featured have been named. The fifth disc will remain a mystery until release day, with Paramount only confirming that this set will mark its 4K debut… What could it be?
The titles we have had confirmed are 1968’s Rosemary’s Baby, 1989’s Pet Sematary, 2019’s Crawl and 2022’s highest grossing horror film Smile.
Quite the line-up of past and present, huh? But we can’t help but itch to know what that fifth film is! We applaud Paramount on their marketing prowess with this one!
This gorgeous set is available to pre-order now, and will release on October 24th 2023, the perfect Halloween treat for any horror fan, we’re sure you’ll agree.
And remember, this is only the first volume, we don’t doubt Paramount have a lot more scares up their sleeve, so watch this space.
