We’re still over seven months away from the release of Scream 7. However, despite the seventh entry not even unveiling a poster or trailer yet, preparations are well underway for the already greenlit sequel.
As we know, Scream 8 was given the go-ahead by Spyglass Media Group and Paramount Pictures a few weeks back, sparking shock amongst the fandom.
Whilst most were excited, pointing out that this spoke of huge confidence in the upcoming seventh entry, some felt the studios were jumping the gun.
Now, it seems we have a further update on Scream 8, and things are moving much faster than we anticipated.
According to Production Weekly, a trade that notes movement on all active film and television projects, Scream 8 has an allotted shooting period and location locked in.
Reports suggest the eighth instalment will begin shooting in March 2026, less than a month after Scream 7 hits theatres. According to Production Weekly, shooting is to take place in and around Atlanta, Georgia, where the seventh entry also shot earlier this year.
The listing also seems to confirm that Kevin Williamson will return as director, with Guy Busick again penning the script. When taken together, all this information seems to confirm fan suspicion that Scream 7 will see the series ending on a cliffhanger for the first time in its 30-year history.
So, exciting times ahead for Scream fans. We only hope that Scream 7 is successful enough to warrant an eighth film moving this fast.
The promotional campaign for Scream 7 is expected to begin soon, and will ramp up as the film nears its February 27th 2026 release date.
