Urban Legend, The Walking Dead, and The Exorcist actress Alicia Witt is set to add another string to her Scream Queen bow as she joins the cast of Osgood Perkins’ upcoming psychological thriller Longlegs.
Deadline and Bloody Disgusting reported earlier this week that Witt had closed a deal and would join Maika Monroe and Nicolas Cage in the film, said to be a “classic Hollywood” serial killer thriller.
Longlegs will follow Monroe as a young FBI agent assigned to re-examine the case of an elusive serial killer, played by Cage. With elements of police procedural, Hitchcockian suspense and the occult, the film promises to be a tense cat-and-mouse game with a solid cast.
Both Cage and Perkins have made quite the names for themselves over the past number of years in the genre. Osgood Perkins, son of the late Anthony Perkins recently helmed Gretal and Hansel whilst also appearing as an actor in Jordan Peele’s Nope.
Cage has made numerous horror film appearances in the last decade including the critically lauded Mandy, Mom & Dad, Willy’s Wonderland, and the upcoming Dracula retelling Renfield… A scream King, perhaps?
With Witt aboard, Longlegs promises to be quite the ensemble vehicle, although a release date has not yet been given for the project.
