New Trailer for The Veil Unearths the Supernatural Mysteries

Posted on: January 12th, 2016

The Veil PosterUniversal’s supernatural mystery-thriller The Veil will be heading straight to DVD next month and to give us a sneaky peek at what’s to come, we have a new trailer courtesy of Collider. In a similar vein to films like Martha Marcy May Marlene and Red State, it looks to unearth the evils within a cult. This one, however, has supernatural elements thrown in to the mix to give the story a nice little twist and we definitely applaud this attempt at originality.

The film is a star-studded affair with Lily Rabe (American Horror Story), Jessica Alba (Machete, Sin City) and Thomas Jane (The Mist, Into The Grizzly Maze) and is directed by Phil Joanou, who is having his first stab at the horror genre.

Synopsis:
The film centres around a charismatic cult leader (Thomas Jane) who, back in the 1980s led his followers to the largest mass suicide in United States history. Only one little girl survived and we discover her 25 years later (Lily Rabe) as she journeys back to the Heaven’s Veil Compound with a director (Jessica Alba) and her rag-tag documentary crew in an attempt to find answers as to what really happened that fateful day.

The found-footage and documentary-style of filmmaking is, arguably, wearing a little thin, so we’re glad to see that The Veil blends this aesthetic with a traditional filming style. Have a gander at the trailer below and get ready to delve in to the dark and terrifying Veil.

The Veil will be released on 2nd February 2016.
