NEW IMAGES SHOW FIRST LOOK AT ROBERT EGGERS “NOSFERATU” REMAKE

Posted on: January 4th, 2024

Just a couple of weeks ago, we brought you the news that Robert Eggers remake of the 1922 classic Nosferatu would release on December 25th 2024.

Now we’ve got some brand-new images, giving us our first look at what to expect in the film, and there’s one image that’s got everyone talking.

Surrounded by flames and laughing maniacally in all his finery, we see Willem Dafoe as Professor Albin Eberhart Von Franz. Described as “a crazy vampire hunter” by both Dafoe and Eggers, the role is on-point for Dafoe, who has a habit of turning up in rather unhinged character parts. This will not be Dafoe’s first tangle with the world of Nosferatu however, as the actor portrayed Max Schreck in 2000’s Shadow of the Vampire. The film chronicled the making of the 1922 silent tale, and Dafoe’s character portrayed the terrifying Count Orlok.

To that end, we still haven’t had a glimpse of what Eggers’ version of the horrifying vampire Count will be in these new images, but we do see his taloned claw reaching out before Lily-Rose Depp. Bill Skarsgard will portray Orlok, and we’re excited to see what horrific make-up is in store, and if it will rival his stunning turn as Pennywise the Dancing Clown.

Other images give us a look at Nicholas Hoult as Thomas Hutter, the husband to Depp’s Ellen. The cast will also include Kick-Ass star Aaron Taylor-Johnson and The Witch’s Ralph Ineson.

Eggers remake is described as:
“a gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman in 19th century Germany and the ancient Transylvanian vampire who stalks her, bringing untold horror with him.”

Currently to release on Christmas Day 2024, Nosferatu will face stiff competition at the box-office from Sonic the Hedgehog 3. How will it fair? We’ll let you know.
