It’s been a long time coming… but we finally have our first look at The Last of Us season 2.
In two newly-released images we get our first look at series stars Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey. Pascal’s Joel looks hardened and weary, whereas Ramsey brandishes a gun, furthering her burgeoning survival skills of the first season.
Season 2 of the hit HBO series has had to jump through many, many hoops to go before cameras, so these images will no doubt be a welcome treat for fans.
Despite the massive success of the first season, and a second being immediately ordered, strikes would soon paralyse Hollywood. According to showrunner Craig Mazin, the first episode’s script was completed with only minutes to spare before the Writers Guild of America went on strike.
This was almost immediately followed by the SAG-AFTRA strike, making Hollywood come to a standstill. This resulted in the production dates for The Last of Us being pushed back indefinitely, and the premiere movie back a whole year to 2025.
Now, with filming underway and expected to last until August, these new images are undoubtedly the first in many teases to tide fans over.
According to star Bella Ramsey, the second season will feature “the infected” much more, and focus on the ever-expanding world of survivors.
Home Alone and Beetlejuice star Catherine O’Hara joined the cast in February in an undisclosed recurring role.
The Last of Us season 2 is expected sometime in the first quarter of 2025.
