We’re one month removed from The Strangers: Chapter 1, and the film has proven itself to be quite the sleeper hit.
Currently sitting at $40 million worldwide on a meagre budget of just $8 million, the appetite for the sequels is beginning to gain much more traction.
Whilst we don’t have an exact release date for The Strangers: Chapter 2, it’s expected to hit screens sometime in the fall.
Although that’s still some time away, Lionsgate have decided it’s the perfect moment to gift us with our first look at the sequel.
In a newly-released image, returning star Madelaine Petsch is seen bloodied and cowering behind a tree. Whilst not giving very much away, the picture has fans asking many questions. Given that the character of Maya was brutally stabbed and ended the previous instalment in the hospital, why is she in the woods?
How will that chilling cliffhanger ending be resolved? Was the Man in the Mask really in Maya’s bed, or was it all a dream?
Whilst speculation is fun, so too is the mystery of Chapter 2. All we know for certain is it “will blaze a new path” for the series, and focus on Petsch’s character as she navigates trauma, grief, and a hunger for revenge.
Expected around October, it will be interesting to see how Chapter 2 fares and if it lives up to the promise of something different.
The Strangers: Chapter 3 is expected to follow in early 2025.
