NEW “FRIDAY THE 13th VIDEO GAME IN THE WORKS?

Posted on: June 15th, 2023

Sadly, word reached us last week that Gun Interactive’s Friday the 13th: The Game will no longer be sold physically and will soon be removed from purchase on digital gaming platforms too. Of course, this is no surprise, as content for Gun Interactive’s venture stalled four years ago whilst the series was involved in a protracted rights battle.

However, whilst the discontinuation of the survival horror game is undoubtedly sad, word also came shortly after this announcement that a new game just might be in the works!

Speaking at a Crystal Lake Reunion weekend last week, series composer Harry Manfredini let slip that he will be working on a new video game adaption of the series.

As per Manfredini’s comments, the game will come from a different developer, feature “more realistic” characters, and will not be in the multiplayer format that made Gun’s venture such a hit.

Although the project is currently not officially announced, Manfredini’s comments are no doubt a gold mine for both franchise fans and survival horror enthusiasts. With a Crystal Lake television series in the works for Peacock, now would be the perfect time to reintroduce Jason Voorhees to the gaming world.

We will be watching this story closely and bring you any official announcements or word of developments behind-the-scenes.
