It’s bee quite a while since we’ve had an update from “the further.”
The last we heard was that the upcoming sixth film had been issued a brand-new release date of August 21st 2026. This was after being removed from the release roster entirely, as its original August 29th 2025 date drew nearer.
Since then, things have been very quiet regarding all things Insidious.
However, now we’ve received word from a reliable source that the wheels are in motion on the project, and casting decisions have been made.
One name that continues to circle the project is British actress Amelia Eve. Although still a relatively unknown actor, Eve earned considerable praise and attention for her leading turn in Netflix’s The Haunting of Bly Manor.
We’re told Eve is being eyed to play a frazzled single mother with the ability to astral project. Her ability reaches terrifying new heights after inheriting a house from her late mother.
Insidious 6 is also said to be another prequel; the third such film in the franchise. To that end, further word reaches us suggesting Lin Shaye will reprise her role as Elise Renier.
Although her character was killed off at the end of 2010’s Insidious, Shaye has managed to appear in every Insidious entry to date.
So, whilst this is a promising update for the sixth instalment, there’s still so much we don’t know about Insidious 6. And furthermore, whatever happened to the Mandy Moore-starring spin-off Thread – An Insidious Story?
We’ll do some digging and bring you any further Insidious updates as soon as we can.
