We all know exercising can be murder… However, when Frendo the Clown is nearby, it will quite literally kill you.
In a newly released clip from Eli Craig’s Clown in a Cornfield, we get a close-up look at just how sadistic the killer clown can be.
Taking us to a darkened garage, the clip introduces us to the slasher staple high-school jock. Although his weight bench reps initially seem impressive, he quickly devolves into poor form, even bluffing about his rep count… We have a feeling he’ll pay for that.
Soon, the character finds a tiny Jack-in-the-Box, which we’ve come to learn is Frendo’s calling card… He’s around here somewhere.
In classic slasher fashion, our jock dismisses this as someone playing a trick, before returning to his dishonest reps. However, Frendo quickly makes his presence known. In what is undoubtedly a nod to 1988’s A Nightmare on Elm Street 4, our villain is seen pressing the weight-bar down with speed. Cackling madly as his prey struggles to maintain the upper hand, Frendo places a blade beneath the bar.
With one final shove, our big, dumb Jock loses his head, with the appendage flying into a nearby cooler. In the perfect topper to the clip, Frendo exits, his clown shoes honking with each step.
Upon viewing this clip, it is immediately apparent why Clown in a Cornfield is receiving such a plethora of pre-release hype. Described as “the perfect slasher throwback,” and beautifully mixing horror and comedy, this clip is a perfect example of both.
Set to release via RLJE and Shudder on May 10th, Frendo could make some serious waves at the box-office.
