The unstoppable streaming giant Netflix has acquired the rights to Brooks McLaren’s How it Ends. The post-apocalyptic thriller follows a man as he rushes to get home to his pregnant wife as a mysterious event throws the country into mania.
The plot sounds as generic as they come; we’ve seen a ton of post-apocalyptic action films that follow the struggles of a family trying to reunite before the world ends, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t excited about How it Ends.
Netflix has a brilliant streak of acquiring original films and TV series for its platform; including Spectral, The Expanse, the CW’s Riverdale and 20-Chinese language TV shows. It’s a relentless force of film and TV greatness, so it’s no wonder that so many are leaving linear television behind and opting for Netflix’s flexible on-demand entertainment.
How it Ends will go into production this year and will be directed by David M. Rosenthal, who is also behind the upcoming re-imagining of Jacob’s Ladder.
