Chris Lowell (Promising Young Woman, GLOW) has been cast in Amazon Studios’ upcoming feature adaptation of Grady Hendrix’s horror novel My Best Friend’s Exorcism.
Lowell will play a muscular meathead who, along with his brother, performs a “Faith and Fitness” routine at the high school attended by Abby and Gretchen, two sophomores and best friends. The girls’ friendship is tested when Abby begins to suspect that her friend may be possessed by a demonic force.
Elsie Fisher (Castle Rock) will play Abby in the adaptation, with Amiah Miller (War for the Planet of the Apes) playing Gretchen. Other confirmed cast members include Cathy Ang and Rachel Ogechi Kanu.
Damon Thomas (Penny Dreadful) is directing My Best Friend’s Exorcism, from a script by Jenna Lamia. Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day) is producing the film, which is currently in production in Atlanta.
