American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy has teamed up with Blumhouse to develop a feature film adaptation of the Stephen King novella Mr. Harrigan’s Phone, and Blumhouse recently revealed that the movie will premiere on Netflix sometime next year!
Featured in the collection If It Bleeds, Mr. Harrigan’s Phone follows Craig, a young boy living in a small town, who befriends an older, reclusive billionaire named Mr. Harrigan. The two form a bond over books and an iPhone—but when the man passes away, the boy discovers that not everything dead is gone as he finds himself able to communicate with his friend from the grave through the iPhone that was buried with him.
Donald Sutherland (Invasion of the Body Snatchers) will star as Mr. Harrigan in the adaptation, with Jaeden Martell (It) playing Craig. John Lee Hancock (The Little things) will write and direct the film, with production slated to begin this month.
