It’s often been said that your school days are the best of your life, although for most of us, our memories fail to reinforce this belief. And it is most definitely not the case for the students at the institution in Maven Pictures’ Boarding School, which has been acquired for US distribution by Momentum Pictures.
Shot back in 2016, the film takes place in a foreboding boarding school where children deemed “undesirable” are sent. It was written and directed by Boaz Yakin, whose directorial credits include Jason Statham actioner Safe, and who executive produced Hostel and Hostel II.
Boarding School synopsis:
“Twelve-year-old Jacob Felson (Luke Prael) is sent away by his stepfather to the mysterious school run by a peculiar couple, Dr. Sherman (Will Patton) and his dominating wife (Tammy Blanchard). When one of the students is found dead, Jacob begins to suspect something much more sinister is going on than education.”
As well as those mentioned, the film stars Samantha Mathis (American Psycho, The Strain) and The Conjuring’s Sterling Jerins.
Momentum Pictures will release Boarding School in cinemas and on VOD and digital platforms later this year. Global Road is handling international sales.
