MIKE FLANAGAN’S “CARRIE” SERIES BEGINS FILMING

Posted on: June 23rd, 2025

Just a week after a series of new cast members joined the project, Mike Flanagan’s Carrie television series has started filming.

Flanagan confirmed in an Instagram post that Carrie was before the cameras. Showing a clapboard with the show’s official logo, Flanagan captioned the photo “And we’re off!”

The photo also confirms where the series is filming, with Flanagan tagging his location as Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Flanagan is listed as the director of Episode One, but is not expected to direct all eight episodes of the Amazon MGM show.

The commencement of shooting seemingly confirms that Carrie is a hot commodity in Hollywood, as things have moved at a very fast pace. It has been only six months since the project initially entered development.

Curse of Chucky star Summer H. Howell is playing the titular role, alongside other cast members including Matthew Lillard, Kate Siegel, Michael Trucco, Arthur Conti, Heather Graham, and Katee Sackhoff.

According to an official logline:
“In a bold and timely reimagining of the story of misfit high-schooler Carrie White, who has spent her life in seclusion with her domineering mother. After her father’s sudden and untimely death, Carrie finds herself contending with the alien landscape of public High School, a bullying scandal that shatters her community, and the emergence of mysterious telekinetic powers.”

Based on the debut novel of the same name by Stephen King, Flanagan’s series will be the fourth on-screen adaption of Carrie.

A premiere window for the show is currently unknown, but it is highly likely Carrie will debut in 2026.

Stay tuned for further updates as they come in.
