A new poster has been unveiled for Ari Aster’s Midsommar and it shows a couple happily walking through a beautiful field to a sinister sacrifice. The mix of beauty and horror has come to represent Ari Aster’s horror; with Hereditary being a brilliant example of a genre film that was exquisitely made, but terrifying.
Synopsis:
Pugh and Reynor will play a couple that travels to Sweden to visit their friend’s rural hometown for its fabled mid-summer festival. What begins as an idyllic retreat quickly devolves into an increasingly violent and bizarre competition at the hands of a pagan cult.
Alongside A Quiet Place, Hereditary was one of the best horror films of last year and was propelled by a brilliant performance from Toni Colette. The cast has not yet been announced for Midsommar, but Aster has already proven he can draw out something spectacular from his actors.
Look out for Mdisommar this summer from A24.
