Just months before production was set to get underway on Marvel’s Blade reboot, Bassam Tariq (Mogul Mowgli) has stepped down from directing.
“It’s been an honour working with the wonderful folks at Marvel,” Tariq said in a statement. “We were able to put together a killer cast and crew. Eager to see where the next director takes the film.”
Tariq is expected to remain on board as an executive producer on the project. No word yet on who will replace him in the director’s chair.
Mahershala Ali (True Detective) will play Blade in the new film. The cast also includes Aaron Pierre (Old) and Delroy Lindo (Da 5 Bloods).
Blade was originally slated to release on November 3rd, 2023. That may change if production is severely delayed.
