The OC’s Mischa Barton stars in bloodthirsty thriller Painkillers, which sits within a handful of upcoming horror flicks on her CV. Below is a set of new stills for the film, which premiered this last week at the Brussels International Fantastic Films Festival.
Roxy Shih – whose 2016 feature debut The Tribe won multiple festival awards – directed Painkillers from a script by Starry Eyes/Fear Inc. producer Giles Daoust. KEW Media is handling sales on the film, which hails from Title Media and Lone Suspect.
“After a terrible car crash in which his son dies, brilliant surgeon John Clarke, tormented by guilt, becomes prey to an unbearable physical pain. While his marriage starts disintegrating, John soon finds out that the only thing that can ease his pain is the taste of human blood. When he encounters Herb Morris, a man who claims he can help him get his life back, John embarks upon a nightmarish journey through which he will either have to come to terms with his pain… or become a monster.”
Barton stars alongside Adam Huss (TV’s Power), Madeline Zima (Californication, The Collector), Grant Bowler (True Blood, Killer Elite) and horror regular Maria Olsen (Starry Eyes, Southbound, I Spit on Your Grave: Deja Vu).
