Further to the unveiling of The Wicked Within, Murder in the Dark and Re-Kill as the first three films in the rekindled ‘8 Films to Die For’ collection, After Dark Films today confirms Lumberjack Man as the 4th film in the lineup.
The film marks helmer Josh Bear’s return to the movie business after directing a number of successful video games such as The Gunstringer. Adapted from a screenplay by Ed Kuehnel and Matt Entin (based on an original story by Bear and Bill Muehl), Lumberjack Man is set to inject some comic relief into After Dark’s latest terrifying collection. Commenting on the news, Bear assures that, “horror fans will be able to experience the creation of a new icon in this fantastic genre,” whilst Stephanie Caleb, EVP, Creative Affairs & Acquisitions, added, “There’s gore, there’s suspense, there’s spring breakers at church camp, and bloody good pancakes for breakfast.” Sounds like the perfect recipe if you ask me.
Starring Michael Madsen (Reservoir Dogs, Kill Bill: Vol. 1), Alex Dobrenko (Bloody Homecoming), Ciara Flynn (Replica 114), Chase Joliet (Zombex), and Adam Sessler (X-Play) Lumberjack Man hits theatres this October 16th with Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment handling all ancillary forms of media, including Digital HD™, DVD and VOD.
Further titles will be revealed over the coming weeks but for the time being we’ll leave you with the trailer for Lumberjack Man:
Official Synopsis:
As the staff of Good Friends Church Camp prepares for a spring break filled with “Fun Under the Son”, a demon logger rises from his sap boiler to wreak his vengeance and feast on flapjacks soaked in the blood of his victims.
