An action-packed and exciting trailer has been released for The Girl in the Spider’s Web, the next chapter in the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series. Well, sort of. Sony is skipping The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest, and jumping into the first story not written by the late Stieg Larsson.
The trailer teases the reveal of Lisbeths’ twin sister and showcases the film’s scenes of action. It’s no surprise to see Lisbeth being described a female Jason Bourne, as she’s definitely being painted as an action hero here.
As the film is from director Fede Alvarez (Evil Dead, Don’t Breathe) I can’t help but be excited, but this story is looking very different from the source material. That’s not entirely a bad thing, because the novel was less than perfect, but the cyber-crime tale at the forefront was a good’un so let’s hope there’s more to this than meets the eye.
David Fincher, who directed the The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo in 2012, will executive produce The Girl in the Spider’s Web, which will be released on 19th October 2018.
