David F. Sandberg’s Lights Out was a pretty spooky affair when it was released in 2016 and with Annabelle 2 on the way this summer; Sandberg is proving to be a strong force in the horror world. However, rumours are spreading that suggest Sandberg is being eyed to direct Shazam! for Warner Bros New Line studios in the extended universe of DC. Sandberg is in early talks to dip his toes in the ocean of big-budget superhero movies, so that’s exciting.
Shazam is an acronym for the gods of the ancient world; Solomon, Hercules, Aries, Zeus, Achilles and Mercury and the alter ego of Billy Batson, who becomes Captain Marvel when he yells “Shazam!” There is currently no word on other cast members or what exact route the story will take, but it was earlier confirmed that Dwayne Johnson will be playing the villainous role of Black Adam in his own spin-off film. He may have a role in this film too, but that is yet to be finalised.
Keep your eyes peeled for more about Shazam! as it comes.
