Warning: This post features spoilers for the Season 8 mid-season finale. Obviously.
After a frustrating Season 7 and a lacklustre start to Season 8, The Walking Dead has been gradually picking up these last few episodes, and this week’s mid-season finale saw a return to the tension and excitement that’s been so sorely missing from the show recently. It was, I feel, the best episode we’ve seen since Season 6. I just wish they’d quit with those cheap, lazy face montages they keep slipping in.
So with Carl now on a steady decline towards shuffling undeadness (but, perhaps crucially, not dead yet), it’s anybody’s guess where things will go from here. One thing’s for sure though; Rick is gonna be one seriously pissed-off dude after his son bites it. No sooner had we had the shock of seeing those teeth marks, than AMC had put out this teaser for the second half of the season, which concludes in February. At this point last year I was pretty apathetic; now I’m really looking forward to seeing what’s in store.
The Walking Dead returns to AMC on Sunday, February 25th, and to FOX on the 26th in the UK.
