The cult classic horror-comedy Heathers is being given a new life in Paramount’s upcoming TV series based on the film from 1988. The original starred Winona Ryder and Christian Slater as a couple who are intent on bringing down the popular clique of “Heathers” that dominate the school. In the series, the concept is re-booted to include a similar trio of Heathers, but it adopts an even darker and funnier approach to High School murder.
The new Heathers will air on the recently rebranding Spike channel in the US, now the Paramount Network, from 7th March 2017. The series promises a cameo from ’88 Heathers star Shannon Doherty, but additionally stars James Scully who will be playing the role made famous by Christian Slater and Victoria Cox, who will be playing Winona Ryder’s character of Veronica. They will join the Heathers, played by Brendan Scannell, Jasmine Matthews and Melanie Field.
