A while back, Jason Blum announced that Blumhouse and Akiva Goldsman would be developing a new adaptation of Firestarter, Stephen King’s 1980 novel about a little girl who develops pyrokinesis only to be abducted by a secret government agency that wants to turn her into a weapon. And we now know that Keith Thomas (The Vigil) will be helming the project.
Scott Teems (Halloween Kills) is adapting the book, with Blum and Goldsman serving as producers. Martha de Laurentiis is on board to executive produce.
Firestarter was previously adapted in 1984 by Mark L. Lester. Drew Barrymore starred.
