Way back in March 2020, we learned that director Karyn Kusama (Jennifer’s Body) would be creating a fresh take on Dracula for Blumhouse. Production was slated to begin next month, but unfortunately, the project seems to have been staked through the heart.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Miramax is said to have exited, torpedoing what would have been a modern take on the mythos.” Deadline adds that “sources say Miramax exited over creative differences with the filmmaker.”
We also learned this week that the project would have been called Mina Harker. Jasmine Cephas Jones was set to play the titular character, meeting Dracula in modern-day Los Angeles.
