Horror maestro James Wan (Saw, The Conjuring) is developing an as-yet-untitled monster movie for Universal Studios. Wan will produce the film through Atomic Monster, though he is not slated to direct.
Supposedly, the film will have shades of Disturbia and take cues from Universal’s classic monster legacy, while still being told through a modern lens. The script is being written by Robbie Thompson (Supernatural) and will focus on a group of teens who discover their neighbour is building a monster in his basement… And you better believe it’s going to get loose.
Could this be the fresh take on Frankenstein that is all but inevitable given Universal’s current direction? We can’t say for sure, but we will say this: if it’s anything like the recent take on The Invisible Man created by Wan’s frequent collaborator Leigh Whannell, we could be in for a real treat.
