James Moses Black (24: Legacy) is the latest actor to join the cast of Universal Pictures’ Renfield. He joins the previously announced Nicolas Cage (Mandy), Nicholas Hoult (Warm Bodies), Awkwafina (Ocean’s Eight), Ben Schwartz (Parks and Recreation), Adrian Martinez (Stumptown), Shohreh Aghdashloo (The Expanse), and Bess Rous (2016’s Ghostbusters).
Based on an original pitch from The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, the film will follow Renfield (Hoult), who has grown sick and tired of his centuries as Dracula’s (Cage) lackey. The henchman finds a new lease on life and maybe even redemption when he falls for feisty, perennially angry traffic cop Rebecca Quincy (Awkwafina).
Said to be a “modern-day adventure story that is comedic in tone,” Renfield was written by Ryan Ridley (Rick and Morty) and is being directed by Chris McKay (The Tomorrow War). No word yet on which character James Moses Black will play.
