Arboreta Games has shared an eerie announcement trailer giving us our first look at the developer’s new horror title, It Sleeps Below the Haar.
Slated for an autumn 2022 release, It Sleeps Below the Haar is described as a short exploration game set in the secluded coastal village of Kellas Bay in North East Scotland in 1958. When a research student travels to the village to study its unique and strange ecology, they soon find themselves embarking on a surreal journey from the lush forests and ancient cave systems surrounding the village to the freezing depths of the North Sea in order to comprehend the primordial natural forces responsible for the area’s curious phenomena.
Of particular interest to me, a Scottish person who briefly lived in Aberdeenshire, is the game’s use of the Doric language by the locals. Players will be able to converse with the villagers and hear their stories while exploring Kellas Bay at your own pace. You’ll also collect both scientific samples and bizarre objects, allowing you to interact with the hidden side of the village.
What strange horror sleeps below the haar? See if you can catch a glimpse by watching the announcement trailer below!
