ISABELLE FUHRMAN RETURNING FOR ORPHAN PREQUEL FILM

Posted on: November 6th, 2020

Earlier this year, we learned that Jaume Collet-Serra’s 2009 horror film Orphan would be getting a prequel—and now we’re hearing that Isabelle Fuhrman will reprise the role of Esther.

In the original film, Esther is adopted by a couple who recently lost their baby. But while she appears to be nine years old, she is in fact a 33-year-old woman named Leena Klammer who is harbouring murderous intentions…

The prequel film, which was initially titled Esther but has since been renamed Orphan: First Kill, was written by David Coggeshall (The Haunting of Connecticut 2: Ghosts of Georgia) and will be directed by William Brent Bell (The Boy). The plot will see Leena Klammer orchestrating a brilliant escape from an Estonian psychiatric facility and travelling to America by impersonating the missing daughter of a wealthy family. But Leena’s new life as “Esther” comes with an unexpected wrinkle—pitting her against a mother who will protect her family at any cost.

Since Fuhrman is obviously no longer a child, Deadline reports that Orphan: First Kill will utilise forced perspective shooting and a world-class makeup team to bring the character to life once again. The film’s cast also includes Julia Stiles (The Omen).
