Another trip into The Further draws closer as Insidious: The Red Door receives a rating and reveals its runtime.
Rated PG-13 for “violence and frightening images,” the fifth instalment is keeping with franchise tradition as it avoids a hard R. Clocking in at 117 minutes, The Red Door becomes the second longest in the series, behind James Wan’s 2013 sequel Insidious: Chapter 2.
Insidious: The Red Door picks up ten years after the events of the first two movies. Drawn back to his family by a recent tragedy, Josh Lambert (Patrick Wilson) is convinced by ex-wife Renai (Rose Byrne) to drive their son Dalton (Ty Simpkins) to college. From here the world of The Further reaches out to torment father and son once more, as long buried memories and old foes from their past resurface for one final fight.
Directed by star Patrick Wilson, Insidious: The Red Door will act as the final chapter in the Lambert Family arc. Wilson, Byrne, and Simpkins all return from the first two outings, joined by franchise star Lin Shaye in a cameo and Andrew Astor, reprising his role as Foster Lambert.
Although the final tale for the Lambert clan, a sequel/spin-off has already been announced under the title Thread: An Insidious Story, meaning plenty more trips to The Further await.
Insidious: The Red Door will release on July 17th 2023, tickets are on sale now.
