Way back in 2020, we learned that a fifth instalment in the Insidious franchise would be coming our way. Sony Pictures has officially set a release date for the film, which will hit theatres everywhere on the 7th of July, 2023.
Patrick Wilson is helming Insidious 5, making his directorial debut. Wilson, of course, played Josh Lambert in the first two Insidious films and will be reprising the role for the fifth, which will pick up the Lambert family’s story 10 years later as Dalton (Ty Simpkins) begins college.
In a statement in 2020, Wilson noted that the new instalment will “provide an amazing chance to unpack everything the Lamberts went through a decade ago, as well as deal with the consequences of their choices.” Scott Teems (Halloween Kills) wrote the script, based on a story by Leigh Whannell.
