Much noise has been made about the upcoming slasher movie In a Violent Nature.
The film, set to tell a slasher-style tale from the killer’s perspective, has gotten rave reviews following a recent screening at Sundance Film Festival. Described as a slasher film that will “change everything,” and lauded for its gruesome kills, our curiosity was definitely piqued.
So, with the news of a teaser landing from Shudder and IFC, we were anxious to get a closer look at this intriguing film. But we didn’t… The clip, lasting just one minute shows only a body floating atop some water, followed by a shot of the movie’s killer that has already been released to the media.
We’re still as curious about In a Violent Nature as we were before viewing the clip, given the high amount of text praising the film the trailer exhibits.
For now, all we have is a logline, stating the following:
“When a locket is removed from a collapsed fire tower in the woods that entombs the rotting corpse of Johnny, a vengeful spirit spurred on by a horrific 60-year-old crime, his body is resurrected and becomes hellbent on retrieving it. The undead golem hones in on the group of vacationing teens responsible for the theft and proceeds to methodically slaughter them one by one in his mission to get it back – along with anyone in his way.”
Shudder and IFC have been equally vague about the project, with Shudder stating:
“In a Violent Nature is a tremendous new slasher. We’re thrilled for you to meet Johnny, whose reign of terror honors the iconic subgenre while taking audiences on a singular and brutal new journey within it. Chris Nash’s bold perspective represents the best of Shudder, marrying the genre’s traditions with its exhilarating next steps.”
In a Violent Nature is written and directed by filmmaker Chris Nash, and is currently expected sometime in 2024.
We will let you know when this intriguing tale is set to slash across the screen.
