The US rights to the Turkish horror Baskin have been acquired by IFC Midnight just after the film had its world premiere at TIFF, as part of the Midnight Madness line-up last week. Described as being as controversial as the 2008 screening of the French shocker Martyrs, the buzz around Baskin has been rather incredible.
Synopsis:
It’s an easy night on patrol for Arda, Remzi and the rest of their police unit: a bit of cards, a bit of football, a bit of barbecue. They could never know what to expect when summoned out to support another group of cops at a remote building. And by the time they realize what they’re facing it will be far, far too late.
From the footage we’ve seen so far, it looks to be a relentlessly gory and terrifying ride and I can’t wait for it to make its way to the UK. To refresh your memory of how awesome it looks, check out the poster (right) and trailer (below).
