We’re one step closer to seeing the highly-anticipated I Know What You Did Last Summer legacy sequel.
Despite whispers that the film was heading for a delay, we can confirm that filming wrapped on March 13th 2025. The news was confirmed by the movie’s official social media account, and star Jennifer Love Hewitt.
Both posted a short video of writer-director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson slating the film’s final scene. Robinson also uploaded two images to her Instagram story, one surrounded by the film’s cast, and captioned; “that’s a wrap.”
The news comes following fears that Last Summer would be pushed from its summer release date. Despite the majority of shooting being completed in Sydney, Australia in November and December 2024, production was halted before Christmas.
This was allegedly done at the behest of returning legacy star Jennifer Love Hewitt. After lengthy negotiations, Hewitt announced her involvement in December, just as production halted. Allegedly, additional scenes were constructed around Hewitt’s character Julie James, due to the star’s wish for a “worthwhile” return.
The delay caused considerable tension amongst Last Summer’s producers, but thankfully, a delay looks unlikely.
With filming now wrapped, a reliable source confirmed that the sequel is still on track to meet its July 2025 release date.
So, all we can do now is wait!
In addition to returning stars Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr, I Know What You Did Last Summer stars Nicholas Alexander Chavez, Chase Sui Wonders, Madeline Cline, and Jonah Hauer-King, among other names.
The film’s promotional campaign is expected to begin soon, with the sequel slashing into theatres on July 18th 2025.
