Companion, a horror/sci-fi vehicle we reported two weeks ago would star Jack Quaid, is continuing to drum up hype as it adds more names to the cast.
Leading the new cast announcements is What We Do in the Shadows star Harvey Guillén, bulking out his horror resume and adding another “in production” project to his growing filmography. Alongside Guillén we have perhaps the biggest name to join the cast since Quaid, Lukas Gage, current star of Netflix’s immensely popular series You. Despite an impressive list of credits, Companion will be Gage’s first genre film.
Companion was initially set to be directed by Barbarian director Zach Cregger and the BoulderLight team behind that film. However, first time director Drew Hancock will take the reins as Cregger opts to instead concentrate on another project. Cregger and his team at BoulderLight will stay on board as producers and have approved of Hancock’s draft of the script.
Plot details are still unknown, however, the project is creating quite a bit of industry hype, so it likely won’t be long until we know more.
Although Companion does not currently have a release date, production is eyeing a 2024 slot, with filming tentatively slated for fall 2023. However, this may change due to Hollywood’s current writer’s strike. We will keep you updated.
