Produced by Guillermo del Toro and directed by Scott Cooper, Antlers looks like the stuff of nightmares—and the new poster implies you might want to cover your eyes…
The film is based on the short story “The Quiet Boy” by Channel Zero creator Nick Antosca. Antosca co-wrote the screenplay with Henry Chaisson, with Cooper supplying revisions. The plot revolves around a small-town Oregon teacher and her brother, the local sheriff, who become entwined with a young student harbouring a dangerous secret.
So where do antlers come into the mix? If you’ve seen the trailer, you’ve probably got some idea. Interestingly, Antosca was also a writer on Bryan Fuller’s Hannibal, which fans will remember made ample use of antlers. We sense a theme…
Antlers breaks free and into theatres on April 17th, 2020.
