HBO MAX REVEALS WELCOME TO DERRY CAST, FILMING BEGINS

Posted on: April 15th, 2023

Just one week after bringing the news that It series star Bill Skarsgard was not involved in HBO Max’s spin-off show, it seems things are powering forward for Welcome to Derry. News comes this past week that the prequel series has named its cast and has already begun shooting.

As is to be expected with such a high-profile show, the cast have appeared in a slew of recent projects. Taylour Paige, Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, and James Remar have so far been named but specifics remain undisclosed.

Paige is perhaps best known for her three-season run on the VH1 sports drama Hit the Floor. The actress is currently to appear in the upcoming remake of The Toxic Avenger and the fourth instalment of the Beverly Hills Cop series entitled Beverly Hills Cop: Alex Foley.

British born Jovan Adepo rose to prominence in 2016’s Fences. The actor has since appeared in 2018’s Overlord and had a prolific television career including Stephen King’s The Stand and the Netflix miniseries When They See Us.

Chalk is best known for his regular role on the modern reboot of Perry Mason, as well as sharing the screen with Adepo in 2018’s When They See Us.

Remar, a prolific character actor of over 45 years, is best known for his frequent collaborations with filmmaker Gus Van Sant, including Drugstore Cowboy and 1998’s Psycho remake.

As stated, plot details are currently unknown besides acting as a prequel to the It films and exploring the origins of Pennywise and the misfortune of Derry at large. It series director Andy Muschietti will return to direct several episodes as well as acting as a producer.

Welcome to Derry is currently filming in Toronto, Canada as of April 3rd 2023, and the title is “subject to change.” We will report any further news as it comes.
