HAMMER RISES AGAIN WITH “DOCTOR JEKYLL” TRAILER

Posted on: October 16th, 2023

“You forgot Nina’s medication!”

Just a few weeks ago, we reported the return of Hammer Films as a filmmaking entity, following theatrical agent John Gore’s purchasing of the company.

Now, we’re very pleased to report that we have the trailer for their first new film venture under Gore’s leadership.

Doctor Jekyll appears to be the perfect jumping-off point for Hammer, as the film pays homage to the company’s gothic legacy, whilst also presenting a modern updating of a classic monster tale.

Eddie Izzard stars as Doctor Nina Jekyll, an eccentric loner who is hesitant to work with staff in her rambling manor house. After taking a shine to Rob, a new young hire, Doctor Jekyll begins to let her guard down… That includes allowing her sinister alter-ego, Rachel Hyde to make the occasional appearance.

Izzard stars in a role reminiscent of 1940s screen sirens alongside Scott Chambers, producer of the recent horror hit Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey.

Doctor Jekyll premiered August 25th at Film4 FrightFest, and will release UK-wide on October 27th 2023.

Hopefully this is the first of many brand-new endeavours for Hammer Films, given the already highly-positive critical reception Doctor Jekyll has received, it seems likely!
