“HALLOWEEN” RECEIVING TWO NEW VIDEO GAME ADAPTIONS, FIRST RELEASES THIS OCTOBER

Posted on: August 19th, 2024

Following the conclusion of David Gordon Green’s hugely successful Halloween trilogy, the intent was stated to turn Halloween into a “huge multimedia franchise.”

We got our first taste of that when a huge bidding war erupted for the television and film rights. Currently, Miramax Television is said to be working on a Halloween adaption for the small-screen.

However, now we’ve had official confirmation that Halloween will make the jump to console, with not one, but two Halloween video games in the works.

Boss Team Games, the company behind Evil Dead: The Game, will be producing both games, with the first set to release this October.

The first is RetroRealms: Halloween, a 16-bit nineties arcade-style game, wherein, Michael Myers must avoid obstacles through multiple levels to reach his prey. Announced alongside this was an identical adaption for Ash Vs The Evil Dead, which genre fans seem more excited about. You can watch the announcement trailer for the RetroRealms throwbacks below.

The second Halloween video game is the one that has series fans most excited. Whilst it is still in early development, we know it will be called Halloween: The Game, and Boss Team Games will use Unreal Engine 5 to construct the project.

Although described as “shrouded in secrecy,” franchise creator John Carpenter has confirmed he is working closely with the team on this larger game project. Said to include “iconic” locations and characters from the Halloween franchise, it is hoped that this will be in the same vein as Friday the 13th: The Game or the more recent Texas Chain Saw Massacre survival game.

Halloween: The Game doesn’t currently have a release date, as things are still getting off the ground, but it is expected to span multiple gaming platforms, and involve a multiplayer format.

We will let you know as soon as we have any further updates on Halloween: The Game, or you can subscribe to www.halloweengame.com to be kept in the loop. Until then, enjoy the trailer for the 16-bit arcade-style RetroRealms: Halloween, to release October 18th 2024.
